Also, on Windows, you could probably leverage the External Application connection type to integrate an external tool which supports this protocol:

Thanks for the link! As far as I can see there's no "managed" (dotnet) implementation of the client / protocol available. In this case I'm afraid that the external app connection type might be the only feasible solution at the moment. Did you try to integrate it using the external app connection?
